In 2018, we saw CBD majorly trend across the wellness world—even Oprah.com said it’s going mainstream! With its increasing popularity, we’re seeing CBD infused coffee, mascara, and we even had a friend tell us that they had CBD burgers at the music festival, Coachella, this year!
With an ever-expanding landscape of CBD products on offer, more people than ever before are finding CBD a place to call home in their medicine cabinets and in their wellness routines. So, once the dust settles, what will 2019 hold for the future of CBD? Here’s what we think you need to know:
Say Goodbye to a Lack of Regulation
The good news for consumers is that we anticipate there will be more regulation with the passage of the new version of the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill is what legalized the growth and sale of the hemp plant and the new version will create even more guidelines for companies looking to sell CBD products. As a brand that has stuck to incredibly strict quality standards from our founding, we welcome added regulation in this industry!
So Long, CBD Stigma
2018 was the biggest year for massive waves of information released from major press outlets about CBD. The reason we believe that won’t slow down is that finally the stigma is being released about the incredibly powerful hemp plant; we will continue our own commitment into 2019 of educating the country and consumers about CBD.
CBD in More Mass Retailers
As stigmas fall away, we will continue to see CBD products made available in mass retailers like pharmacy chains, department stores, and beauty stores. We’re already seeing this happen with stores like Ulta, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom that are starting to sell CBD beauty products.
Buyer Beware: Hemp Seed Oil-Infused Products
With it’s increased popularity, we have seen more corporate brands launch hemp seed oil-infused products. While hemp seed oils have a lot of moisturizing benefits, it’s important to know that there is no CBD found in the seed—so keep an eye out for brands that are attempting to pass off their products as cannabinoid-rich when in fact they are not!
Savvy Consumers Demanding More Transparency & Quality
Consumers are demanding better and more transparent information about the CBD products they consume (proud of you guys!) which is great news because it’s more important than ever before for people to do their homework and ensure they’re buying CBD products with high-quality standards. The more that savvy customers demand this, the more the CBD marketplace will reflect it.
Although it’s been around for centuries, 2018 was the year that CBD exploded onto the wellness scene—and while wellness trends are notorious for coming and going, we believe CBD is here to stay for the long-term. We’re excited to see what 2019 will hold for us all and to continue to support you in pursuing a fresh approach to your wellness.
